About Art for Architecture
Art for Architecture is an art consultancy, set up in 2010, with a team of experienced art consultants and marketers. The company has grown very fast, with footholds in China, USA and Europe - all based from our operational centre deep in the heart of the English Lake District. Uniquely, we connect ‘real artists’ from the UK and Europe with international hotel and building development projects. We exist to bridge the gap between these artists and development projects, facilitating dialogue and business between clients hungry for interesting, real, bespoke artwork, and the individual artists creating it. Everything on the site is made by an artist, including our 'Lines' for guestrooms and the 'Design' furnishing items.
Surrounded by the artificial, people have a yearning for the authentic. We noticed that the artists producing the most innovative and beautiful work are often those who spend the majority of their time in studios developing their technique, and less time pursuing and marketing themselves to clients. Our aim is to bring these techniques out of the studio and into built spaces, improving the authenticity and aesthetic qualities of building projects - while encouraging both artists and clients to think creatively about the possibilities of integrating bespoke artwork with architectural design and interior furnishing. This provides a double result: better, more original art and design-work for the hotels and buildings, and another revenue stream for independent artists.
We constantly discover and add fascinating new artists to our books, so our range is constantly refreshed. The first stage of the relationship with prospective artists is a detailed questionnaire, designed to find out what they really want to achieve. The next stage is to meet them personally and to see their work first-hand. We explore their 'Artist's Dreams' which you can hear about in the InsiderUpdates we send out, and keep in touch with their life, work and ambitions.
The English Lake District is traditionally the spiritual home of artists and craftspeople - as well as a rich source of natural materials. Hard and soft woods are found in profusion; the mountains yield myriad types of rock, and even the artist's simple pencil was invented here! To the melting pot of creativity we apply the furnace of discipline, forging relationships to take real artwork to new places in the contemporary world.
